    sure, i self-published a book through lulu.com
    they are completly free.
after you have published, and at any point in the future, you can buy an isbn, or marketing services.
You keep all rights to the book.
Lulu are great. You can see my book here: http://www.lulu.com/dchooper
    Hope this helps.
As far as i know, lulu are one of the only self-publishers that dont make you pay.

Not advisable. If your book is good enough for acceptance by any publisher, you must get paid for it and ensure that you are paid royalty. You may self publish if you are a professional authority on the subject you are writing, otherwise you may end up bankrupt.
